Biography
Donny Jackson (he/him) is a lifelong poet. He is also a doctor of clinical psychology and a documentary television producer. Jackson was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Through his writing, Jackson explores both the contemporary plight of underprotected populations, as well as the intimacy lost and found in interpersonal relationships.
Jackson’s one-man, multicharacter spoken word play, One Man Shown, debuted at Greenway Court Theatre in Los Angeles in 2013. His spoken word play, salome: ten poems about one thing, premiered to a sold-out house at the L.A. Get Down Festival in 2019. In 2021, Jackson was a Pushcart Prize XLV nominee for his poem “history,” published by Alternative Field. That same year, Kirkus Reviews named his Silver Star Press poetry collection, boy, one of the “Best Indie Books of the Year.”
In the summer of 2026, Jackson will release his sixth poetry album. Jackson currently lives and works in Los Angeles, California, and is abundantly grateful for inheriting a creative heart.
